5 Reasons Why You Should Not Drink Bed Tea

What is the first thing you do when you wake up at morning? Drink a cup of bed tea? “Yes”! Well, it is a common practice and daily routine of most Indians. Caution! Never start your day with caffeine! This is because the bed tea culture you are following for 2 years or 15 years can affect your health in more than one ways.

Can this habit put you in trouble of any health issue? Keep on reading this article and you will realize at the end that you should break this ancient family rule of drinking tea on empty stomach at your home!

Reasons You Should Not Start Your Day With A Cup Of Bed Tea

May Cause Dehydration-

When your body loses more fluids than you take in, it’s called dehydration. You may already have heard that tea is diuretic in nature which means it will remove the excess water from your body. Is it a good idea to supply your already dehydrated body, (due to non-intake of any food or water since 8 or 10 hours) a diuretic on an empty stomach? Doing so may cause excessive dehydration and will cause the imbalance in your body leading to muscle cramps.

Affects Your Oral Health-

Do you have ever give advice to children in your family to not to eat too many chocolates to avoid affecting their teeth and oral health? If so, it seems you are careful about your oral health too. But, if you are drinking a single cup of bed tea daily then you are putting your oral health at risk! How? Consuming bed tea will cause bacteria in the mouth to break down the sugar that may increase acid levels and erode enamel in your teeth.

Disturbs Your Metabolism-

We all know that we need energy from moving to thinking to growing. Metabolism is a process that delivers the energy to our body via fuel from the food we eat. Do you want to keep this process smooth and undisturbed? If so, then it’s time to stop drinking bed tea! Why? Because, drinking bed tea right after you wake up in the morning may disrupt your metabolism by causing imbalance in acidic levels in the stomach and may keep you in trouble throughout an entire day.

May Leads To Bloating-

Due to the high lactose content in the milk, people often feel bloated when they drink a glass of milk on empty stomach. Lactose is known to affect gut health which may ultimately lead to gas and constipation. What are the important ingredients needed while preparing a cup of tea? Milk, sugar and caffeine! Again, you need to think twice before drinking bed tea containing milk!

Unpleasant Side Effects-

No doubt, caffeine is known to boost energy level but drinking a strong dose of it on empty stomach can give you some unpleasant side effects such as nausea or dizziness. Supplying your body with solids before you drink tea may avoid triggering your stomach acids and will not cause these side effects. So, why don’t you have this tea with or after breakfast?

Do you also have a habit of drinking a cup of tea on an empty stomach? If so, it’s time to think twice before you continue following this habit. After all, that delicious cup of tea is actually causing harm to your body somehow and you don’t want to allow it to do so.

Is there anything you opt as a substitute of bed tea? Yes! You can pick up a glass of fresh juice or a bowl of fruits before you kick start your day. Drinking simply a glass of water is even a better option. Although you are a compulsive tea drinker right now, the above-described reasons for not drinking bed tea are enough to warn you and urge you to stop this habit.

Stay healthy! Stay happy!
